16. Kristian Rees
Solid, dependable, tough and consistent; Kristian drew praise from all quarters for his swashbuckling performances in United’s colours. Safe and secure in his own penalty area and a constant menace at the other end from corners and free-kicks, Kristian played a key role for Gold Coast last term and is set to do so once again.
As one of the first players indentified by Head Coach Miron Bleiberg as being essential to the defensive set-up of his team, Kristian proved his boss right with the level of consistency coaches crave.
Possessing a keen eye for goal, Kristian finally got on the scoresheet for Gold Coast when he registered a double in the famous Boxing Day demolition of Brisbane Roar at Skilled Park.
A Premiership winner with Adelaide United in the opening season of the Hyundai A-League and a Runner-Up the following year, Kristian was also a member of the first Adelaide squad to make an incursion into the Asian Champions League. Tall, tough and experienced, he will be aiming to make one of the central defensive positions his own once again.
